Memorial

It has been a long time since the last post. This has been a very tough year…the toughest. Sometimes life throws so many challenges, that it is hard not to break. Remarkably, I have grown stronger, and for that, I am grateful. I am also grateful for the many challenges and for the wonderful support I have received from friends and family. My outlook is once again beginning to sparkle with possibility.

For my first new post, I wish to share the card I made for my mother’s memorial service. We met at Lake Poway, California for a beautiful ceremony to celebrate her long (nearly 98 years) and happy life. She was a musician, wife, mother, friend, teacher, choral director, and talented craftsperson. A wise, honest, intelligent, kind, remarkable woman who will be greatly missed.

This is the front of the card I created using a picture of her from the 1930’s:

On the back, I wrote a poem which I read at the memorial.MomMemCardNatPhotoLabBack

This is an image of her at the piano during her college years.  It was partly this image that inspired the poem.MomPianoCollege
