I made some tags to give my friends at our Mother’s Day brunch last week. I started with chip board that I cut into house shapes using my Tim Holtz Alterations Artful Dwellings Bigz Die and a heart shaped Movers and Shapers die. I gessoed these using punchinella (a leftover in the process of making sequins) as a stencil.
Then I painted the backgrounds with Golden Fluid Acrylics.
On each, I added a vintage image from either Tumble Fish Studio or ItKuPiLLi. For the back I glued on decorative paper, then I typed Happy Mother’s Day and the recipient’s name and my own using my 1935 vintage typewriter and glued the strips on the paper.
I also made a special image of my mother, Marie O’Connor. First, I scanned a photograph of her from the 1930’s. Then, using Photoshop, I cut out the image from the background, and layered it with elements from ItKuPiLLi. She is a very special woman and much loved.
